Autism & Autism Resources Links
- Autism
Society of America (ASA) is the oldest autism association in the United
States.
- The National Autistic Society is the
United Kingdom's national autism society. Uta Frith is one of the major internationally-known
professionals active in the world of autism.
- PAN-L - Parents
and Autistics Network List is an e-mail list run by Carolyn Baird in Australia
targeted at family members and individuals with autism. There are many participants
from the United States, but also from around the world.
- Health and Disability-Related
Web Sites from the UK - lots of links, maybe a little different perspective
(and different "autism heros") than here in the United States.
- Austim Network International is
a self-advocacy group for and by persons with autism and ASD's. Jim Sinclair
is the list owner and moderator. Jim has a strongly competitve viewpoint advocating
that autism should be accepted and welcomed, not changed or "fixed". The site
is strong on self-advocacy, holding the position that the best advocates for
autism are those who have autism. Persons without autism are welcome if they
are willing to live within the guidelines and philosophies that guide the
site.
- Autism Speaks - the new merged
organization of Autism Speaks, National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR)
and Cure Autism Now (CAN). This organization is relatively young - founded
in 2005, but is having good success in funding research, media exposure, etc.
- MAAP (More Advanced Autistic
People) Services Inc. is located in Indiana, USA, and provides excellent
information focused more on "high functioning" ASD persons.
- Cure Autism
Now (CAN) has merged with Autism Speaks. This link is to the CAN web site,
which will, presumably, eventually go away.
- Indiana Resource Center for
Autism (IRCA) is one of eight centers supported by the Indiana Institute
on Disability and Community, and is affiliated with Indiana University, Bloomington.
IRCA staff conduct outreach training and consultations, engage in research,
and develop and disseminate information focused on building the capacity of
local communities, organizations, and families to support children and adults
across the autism spectrum in typical work, school, home, and community settings.
IRCA has been a long time friend and close partner of the Autism Society of
Indiana. Cathy Pratt, Ph.D. serves as IRCA Program Director.
- Another Autism
Links Page - this page has additional links to sites relating to autism.
It duplicates some of the links on this page (or the other way around, depending
on your perspective), but includes more description of the sites.
- Families for Early Autism Treatment (FEAT)
is a Northern California (United States) organization.
- Autism
Society of Wisconsin (USA) is the Wisconsin state organization of the
Autism Society of America.
- Autism
Society of Indiana (USA) is the Indiana state organization of the Autism
Society of America.
